\nHe studied Painting at the \u00c9cole Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Aix-en-Provence (France). He has worked around the world for opera and dance, collaborating with visual artists such as Robert (Bob) Wilson, David Salle, and Andy de Groat.<\/p>\n
For 30 years, Xavier de Richemont has been creating original monumental projections worldwide.<\/p>\n
He designed his first works in Vend\u00e9e starting in 1996 for the Ch\u00e2teau de Talmont, where he created a nighttime scenographic tour centered on the character of Richard the Lionheart. For the European Heritage Days in 2018 and from 2019 to 2023, he created a colossal work on the history of textile mills in the city of Roubaix<\/b><\/a> (France). In 2019, the Grand H\u00f4tel Martinez<\/a> commissioned him to celebrate its 90th anniversary. In 2023, he created \u00ab\u00a0La Maison des Mondes\u00a0\u00bb<\/a>\u00a0 in Rochefort to commemorate the centenary of Pierre Loti, followed by an innovative work in the northern Andes for the city of Cajamarca, Peru :<\/b> ” Yuragachi “<\/a><\/p>\n 2024 is a landmark year, celebrating the 10th anniversary and renewal (until 2034) of his iconic work in the United States, “San Antonio \u2013 The Saga”<\/em>,<\/a> which has drawn hundreds of thousands of spectators.<\/p>\n In May 2024, he created “Obispado”<\/a> to mark the 200th anniversary of the state of Nuevo Le\u00f3n in Monterrey (Mexico), followed by two original works in the summer for private ch\u00e2teaux in Anjou (La Lorie<\/a>) and Touraine (Boussay<\/a>).<\/p>\n For 2025\/2026, he is preparing several monumental works for various states in the eastern, southern, and western United States, notably in relation to the 250th anniversary of the 1776 Declaration of Independence. Concurrently, he is working on the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the UCO (Universit\u00e9 Catholique de l\u2019Ouest) in Angers (France).<\/p>\n His works have been permanently exhibited for over ten years in the United States, Spain, and Mexico.<\/p>\n The overarching meaning in Xavier de Richemont’s work is central to the conception of his creations. \nIn 2002, he created the first Festival of Lights in Chartres<\/a>\u00a0(France, “Chartres en Lumi\u00e8res”), where he served as the sole artist and artistic director for 10 years.
\nIn 2010, he was invited by the Mexican government to commemorate the bicentennial of Independence<\/a> and\u00a0the centennial of the Mexican Revolution through his work in seven emblematic cities across the country.
\nIn 2012, he inaugurated the Grand Museum of the Mayan World in M\u00e9rida (Mexico) with \u00ab Yuca\u2019ma\u2019yab \u00bb<\/a> , a foundational work on Mayan civilization. In 2014, he installed a major work in the United States, presenting \u00ab San Antonio \u2013 The Saga \u00bb<\/a><\/b> , a masterpiece created for the oldest Catholic cathedral in the U.S. (San Antonio, Texas). This work will run until 2034.
\nIn 2015, he designed a\u00a0monumental video fresco<\/a> for the King of Morocco in Marrakech. He has participated in multiple contemporary video art exhibitions in the United States, Canada, and Germany, notably as part of the European Capitals of Culture (Ruhr Gebiet 2010<\/a>). His trilogy (2016-2018) on Joan of Arc<\/a> was universally acclaimed. The French Embassy in India commissioned him in 2017 to create a monumental work for Amber Fort<\/a><\/b> in Jaipur (Rajasthan).
\nIn 2018 and 2019, he created a piece for the National Museum of the Renaissance, based on the collections of the Ch\u00e2teau d’Ecouen<\/a> commissioned by the French Ministry of Culture.<\/p>\n
\nExtensive on-site research is conducted by the artist to inform his monumental projection projects, which are rooted in the graphical design of highly detailed tableaux. His distinctive style, characterized by lyrical strokes and vibrations, slow movements, a profusion of texture, and the interplay of forms, lines, and colors blending abstraction and figures, narration, and music, is uniquely his own. This work is composed and projected through video.<\/p>\n
